Jeremy Lin is the real deal. I can't say enough about him. Scouts passed him on, probalby (sadly to say) because he's just Asian.

Lin's last three games have shown the world that he's a definite starter in the NBA. Hands down, you can't deny it.

    Gm1: 25/7/5
    Gm2: 28/8/2
    Gm3: 23/10/4

The numbers don't lie. I'm only promoting him cuz he's an awesome basketball player, and not just cuz he's Asian. The dude's got mad skills. These numbers prove it! I haven't seen a PG handle the pick n roll with ease like Lin since Nash during his prime years. His performances make the Warriors rethink why they waivered him.

What do you guys think about J Lin? Do you guys think he's a fluke after 3 games? Do you think Asians can't make it in the NBA? What are your thoughts?

    I feel your semi-anger.

They couldn't. The Lakers had too many PG's 2 years ago.

Watching the last 2 games when he exploded, i thought it was just a hot streak but after tonight vs j.wall, lin's fundamental is almost identical to nash-not as fast/focused but more athletic. just on the fundamental alone, hes a starter

If i see a Lin jersey I'm gonna pick one up. Oh so long ago I believe my last one was Grant Hill jersey. When the allstar weekend yo cuz Dude needs to be apart of it. He should have a huge fan base that'll get him a spot for the weekend. It's unbelievable how he doing better than guys who were top picks in the draft

He's got such a nice style going to the board. I love that kind of PG who makes it hard for the bigger man to block him. Derek Fisher drives in the lane like its going out of style and he always gets the ball knocked out of his hand or gets bumped off his feet. Jeremy Lin drives in and he shoots with his left and finishes with his right and leaves his defender wondering what the hell just happened. Look at his highlight reels and witness just how smooth each of his assist and his shots are. He makes it pretty difficult for anyone to swipe at the ball.

I think Mike D'Antoni just found himself another Steve Nash. =)

Oh yah, and that dunk he pulled off after losing Wall off the dribble..... Here is it again: Sweetness. Even the Wizards crowd were cheering him on.

Tyson Chandler's reaction: "I didn't know he could dunk." Lin & Chandler's got some nice chemistry going and Novak's getting some nice open looks for 3's.

Knicks playing the Lakers this Friday =) I actually don't mind if The Lakers lose the game just so Jeremy Lin can continue his hot streaks. He shut down D.Williams and J.Wall defensively. I don't think he'll have any problems against D.Fisher.

As much as I love seeing another Asian brother making it into the NBA, I can't help but say the truth. The truth is he's not what everyone is hyping him out to be. Sports analyst and sports fans alike are already crowning him the next NBA super star. I'm telling you, he's far away from that. He's not even close and probably average at best. He's gonna be a good facilitator and a solid game manager. A person who doesn't make many mistakes and passes the ball a lot. All in all, he will never be compared to an elite level point guard.

Granted he had 3 big games, but those game's were against horrible teams. Washington is the 2nd worse team in the league! Anyone can score on them, even my little sister!

I'm not hating on the kid, I'm just not ready to call him a superstar. It's gonna be like the Yao Ming effect - everyone will make a big deal out of it because it's a rare Asian guy. They'll stand in awe and amazement like it's a Barnum and Bailey's circus freak show, but actually paying no attention to his actual game.

Bottom line is, Jeremy Lin is average at best. I find it funny Asian's are paying 100 dollars a ticket just to watch him play live. That's like celebrating mediocrity. I much rather drive to the local recreation center and watch a live adult league play for free.

I like him a lot as well, but I think its too early to tell. We'll see how he develope as the season move along. Lets see how well he'll play tomorrow night against my Lakers.

I heard he went to Harvard, so I don't care. If he makes it, he's taking the spot of a brother who would probably be in prison or on the streets. That's one reason why you don't see many Asians in sports or basketball. Asians have so many better opportunities.

Saw the comeback win for Lin coming while the Raps were holding on to the lead.
Impressive 3 at the end to seal the game...

Unlike yao, who was the #1 pick, lin was never drafted. The thing thats intriguing is hes putting up big numbers and playing at an all star level when everyone expected him to rot on the bench. even the coach had no idea he can ball like that...

Tomorrow night, Tidus. Lakers vs. Knicks. Kobe is going to do what Kobe does best but I really want Lin to put in another stellar performance just to show the Lakers front office what they passed up on. A win against the Lakers will be huge for Knicks.

One thing about his point guard position is that it requires a certain level of confidence, poise and assertiveness. You can't be passive or tentative while playing the point guard position so that's refreshing to see.

    He's also breaking stereotypes.

Stereotypes of Asians are: short, passive, shy, quiet, kung fu master, perpetual foreigner. He's smashed all of those so far and really changing America's opinions and perceptions about Asian Americans.

Outside of playing great basketball, he's also doing great interviews in an articulate and eloquent fashion. In most American's minds, they expect him to say words like, "ching Chong, ting tong, ling long", but when he opens his mouth and speaks, the Anglo Americans and African Americans are shocked because he speaks perfect English!! Not only that, but he has no FOREIGN ACCENT!!!!! To them it's like seeing a friggin elephant talk for the FIRST TIME!! LMFAO.

He might not be a superstar or put up 28 points every night, but just being there, his presence a lone is definitely refreshing to see.

I'm excited to watch him play again and hope Baron Davis (the guy Jeremy Lin replaced) takes his time while recuperating from his injury.

There you go again trying to use entertainment as an example. First, it's basketball!! You can't judge a people by a sport, yet you're using it an example of of Asians breaking stereotypes and people looking down on Asians.

It's like I said before, the main reason why you don't see asians in many of those sports is because they are practicall and tend to focus on things that offer more opportunities. Let's be realistic, most people do not succeed in sports, whether you're asian or black. Only a small minority of people have that ability, and race doesn't matter. Can we honestly say there's not a few thousand tall asian guys that have the ability to play b-ball? There are, but they're not going to spend all their time playing basketball like black people. That's really all many black guys do all day..just play sports. That's why they suck at school and struggle in life. Asians shouldn't have to risk success in order to break stereotypes that mainly people like you want to fill in your heads.

It worries me when you have to sit in front of the tv to see asians smashing stereotypes and to see asians in a different light. too much tv man!

What the hell does any of that have to do with basketball? If it weren't for Angryasianman.com, you wouldn't be talking about Jeremy Lin or the NBA. You're the one who dubbed NBA "Nigger Basketball Association". Why do you care now just because an Asian is playing well. Go beat off to some other Asian-related topics about how we're being mistreated all over the world and leave the NBA talks to people who loves the sport.

Take GKG with you too if you can. The both of you have NOTHING to add to the conversation.

Why are you attacking me for? I agree with you and I said this has nothing to do with basketball. Basketball really has nothing to do with race. It's just a bunch of guys who are willing to do what it takes to be players, yet he chose to bring race into it and talk about "negative" asian stereotypes. Then when an Asian American play basketball, he uses that one person to defy all stereotypes. I disagree with that.

I agree with you...and then you attack me out of nowhere? Sounds like you're taking some personal feelings from another thread and bringing it here.

The NBA needs more humble players like him.

    - His salary: $800,000 and even that wasn't guaranteed until he started.
    - Sleeps on his brother's couch
    - Graduated from Harvard with a degree in Economics
    - Did not receive a basketball scholarship for Harvard but he worked his way up into it anyway.
    - Went Undrafted and largely ignored by EVERYONE. Waived by two teams and passed up by The Lakers.
    - He's Taiwanese
    - People love rooting for the underdog and I can't think of anyone other than Jeremy Lin in the league with the kind of difficulties he had to go through just to play the game he loves.

The Knicks won the real lottery when they picked up Jeremy Lin.
    The stats don't lie:

    - First player since Isiah Thomas in '81 to get 28 pts in his first career start. SINCE 1981.
    - First player since Lebron James in '03 to go two straight games with 25+ pts
    - His First double double in just 3 games
    - The 3rd Knicks this season to have two straight 25+ games and he did it with only 3 games under his belt (A'mare only have three 25+ games this season so far)

Pretty impressive for someone who came out of nowhere wasting away on a bench because nobody gave him a chance to play. He's still young enough to develop his game further.

    ^nice research.

we also have to recognize that PG's are a different breed. it's rare to get an awesome TRUE point guard. the only ones i can think of are john stockton, steve nash, chris paul, and isiah thomas. in comparison to the league's current PG's, jeremy lin's skill set is definitely of an above average PG.

and hey, gkg and tuksuhew, can you guys private message each other about race? i think this thread is about basketball. thank you.

The Knicks probably didn't expect him to be this good lol I sure didn't. I hope he keeps it up, though, and hopefully all this attention won't make him turn into a greedy ball hog like Kobe :x sorry Lakers fans

This was written by a 'anonymous' person, no, NOT that Anonymous.

"All the "expert" scouts look silly now, from HS, to college, to the pros. This kid was California state HS player of the year but received no D-I scholarship offers. He took Harvard to its best seasons in 50 years, outplayed 1st round picks from UConn, BC, and Georgetown, and was still undrafted. He earned a minimum contract by outplaying John Wall in summer league. He rotted on the bench at Golden State, and this year started getting minor NBA minutes after a triple double in D-league. In his only opportunity with legit NBA minutes, he immediately goes off and sparks his team. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't been following this kid for years. Disney or some Asian company needs to make a movie about this kid overcoming adversity and barriers at every single level and being clutch oftentimes with only 1 opportunity to make it."

    Perfectly stated.

He doesn't need to put 20 points a night. All he need to do his make his teammate better and he'll be a valuable asset to the team. Chris Paul doesn't put up 20+ points a night and he's making his teammates play better. Jeremy Lin is capable of doing that and then some.

When was the last time an unknown bench player ignited not only the home crowd, but the entire city and the internet and the world over? Never. I never heard of such a thing.

Man they're playing the Lakers tonight. I want him to do well but the Lakers to win.

I admire that not only is he smart off the court, but he's got basketball smarts as well. Great court awareness, pretty good handles and is well liked by his whole team because he's so unselfish.

Now when the ball-hogging, black hole (when the ball touches his hand it's not going back out) Carmelo Anthony gets back, he's not going to like some 2nd-year guy stealing the show. Hopefully, Jeremy or the coaching staff can talk some sense into Carmelo.
