Daily Journal Entry #1 Oh.. Free At Last

Today is the last day of school for my two nieces whom I love to death. I’m there emergency contact if there parents are unreachable. They tend to get out of hand sometimes but kids will be kids. Even the cross walk lady had given them a nick name and I quote “The KARDISANS SISTER’’. Yes, they tend to bicker and argue over the silliest things. The youngest one out of the bunch is very picky and majority of the time gets what she wants. So much for beating your kids! Yeah… word of advice beat your kids early on in order to set them straight and I repeat not when they a lot older. Thank god I don’t have any offspring’s running around. I can’t even change a baby diapers and I don’t intend on learning. I apologize because I forgot to read the freaking baby books. (Inside Joke)

So, you wondering about the title of this entry and how does it relate to me. Well, let me share something I’ve been doing for the past two years or so. I’m the brother who volunteered to pick up my older sister kids from school everyday from Mon through Friday. The crazy thing is I'm not reimbursed for gas money even though my niece goes to school in a different town than where I live. So roughly 70 miles is included on my trip meter on a weekly basic. The way gas prices are looking these days, frequent trip to the gas station seem to be routine. It also explains why my credit card balance could scare the living hell of the average person who has a functional pulse and BK world points system is scandalous. Apparently numbers to me doesn’t mean a thing but only to a certain extent. But don’t assume I’m rich because I’m not, I’m already piss off that Uncle Sam steals all my paper every other week. Good thing they have those tax return you do every year.

Moreover, later today I will be picking up the kids from school at 11am-ish. The weather is probably going to be awful so maybe I could arrive early to beat all the soccer moms. I will defiantly not miss the teachers, parents, rumbling engines and the sounds of children play. Summer officially started yesterday and I’m can gladly say I’m free at last. Free to sleep in after a long days of work and perhaps try to live a little without worrying if I need to pick up the kids or not. Yeah, try having your mother constantly remind you to pick up your nieces every other day. (Dam Women back up). Certainly, it’s been a long school year and I’m just glad I’m still sort of sane after 10 months.

Now I can finally have some free time devoted all to my myself. Still, the mayhem is not over yet because my sister will be dropping her children off starting Friday at my house. I guess my sister thinks my house is like her personal day care center and just when I thought I was free, in reality I’m really not. Oh free at last. Yeah okay….! Thanks for reading entry #1 in my daily journal.:p

does your nieces' school have school buses? are they old enough to take public transportation on their own? Just wondering since 70 miles daily is A LOT in gas money. I know what it's like to have to pick kids up from school. Had to do it all last summer because they don't offer school buses during that time at my lil cousin's school. I sometimes had to pick her up during the regular school year (it's irritating that the bus is so packed that you'd have to claim your seat on a list at the beginning of the year). I'm a bad cousin. I almost never leave the house on time.

70 miles daily or weekly? talk about time being on the road you'll never get back. ah, the things you do for love. your nieces will appreciate you for doing this in their future. summer's here and you're free from this duty, a well-deserve time for relaxation uncle!

My nieces in the fall will be in grade 1 & the older one in grade two. Since their parents work during the day they are not able to pick them up so I scoop them up in the afternoon & take them over to my house. Where then my mother or I baby sits them. Yeah 70 miles was a rough estimate of the total miles I Drive in a week. The daily round trip is about 15 miles a day. I Don't believe in school buses, I watch them drive they think they own the road.
