I really enjoy taking pictures, and no, not just of myself lol
I like taking pictures of things around me such as nature, friends and family and food . I don't have a camera and I want to invest in one.
Something less than 500 bucks. Do you guys have any recommendation? I want one that take really good quality picture and the have hd video recording option.

I took this with a friend camera but I don't really like the quality of it in low light.
So I want a camera that take good picture in low lighting too.

took this one with my 4x megapixel camera phone. I'm not very satisfy with the quality at all

well, if you don't want to go the dslr route, i'd suggest the canon s100. i have the s95 and it's an awesome alternative to the big camera's and it's surprisingly very versatile.

also, the range on s100 is 24-120mm and can go as low as a f2 sooo that's pretty awesome.

Pictures in low lighting depends on the lens itself. Invest in just the body and find a lens with the widest aperture. They can run really pricey though depending on how wide you go.

Oh wait, but if we're talking about standard cameras, then I dunno. Mine died awhile ago because I never found the charger for it -_-

I just love taking pictures and I love good quality pictures. dslr might be out of my price range right now but if it gives me what i'm looking for i'm soo going to save up for one. A treat for myself for working hard lol.

well, if you're a foodie like you seem to be i think you'll love it -- since it fits in your pocket. otherwise, you could always go for a cheap dslr. you could always get something used? get a used t2i (you'd probably never need anything higher than 10mp) and a used lens. lenses actually outlast camera's so i'd rather spend more money on that then the body. but you could always get something easy to start off with like a 50mm F1.8 (they go around $120 new and you could probably find them for $50 if you're lucky). this doesn't give you much range though, so i'd try for something like an 18-200mm which is a nice daily shooting lens (i think you can find these for $400 if you're good) until you can save up for something better.

instead of buying another f1.8 why not go for a f1.4? a little more pricey but the builds a lot better. also, i'm sure if you roam forums you could find them at that price too. they're relatively cheap and common. also, shipping to the states would probably negate any savings you made lol

well, you'd always want to test a used camera -- buy something local in craigslist or something. also, i think you should really look into just a nice point and shoot camera. my dslr hasn't seen much play time since i got the s95.
