Deleted my FB

Had FB since Myspace was popular so I can't say that it wasn't significant to do such a thing, but I was spending too much time on it. Too many people posting dumb shit, rants and complaints. Stuff like this exposes the people I thought I knew much differently. Things people shouldn't be saying but feel that posting these "little things" that might not matter much onto Facebook just for discreet attention. Little did they know that we read this shit and we don't just move on and think nothing of it. These one line comments can explain who you are in many ways; especially when its the same thing over and over everyday.

I felt that anyone who wanted to get a hold of me or was involved in my life in any way, shape or form would be able to find me if they wanted to anyways. They know my number, e-mail and address.

I think that there are a lot more productive things I should've been doing then checking for status updates on that damn thing. And no, I did not deactivate it. I permanently deleted that shit. Peace out Facebook.

welcome to the club..u can actually delete it permanently?..i heard somewhere from someone that ur info stays on the web forever..most my friends dont have a fb page n never even bothered to create an account..some just created an account n left it idle..i think fb is too..wats it..too..it made me too..exposed?..too public i guess..im not a public person..i dont like to put myself out there n give too much info bout myself..i agree, some ppl write the dumbest, pointless sh!t on there n it does get annoying..some write things to u that shud be sent thru private msges..idiots..but if ur the social butterfly type then all the power to u..i got nothing against anyone all up in fb doing the fb thing so long as they keep my name out it..its just not my thing..

    ..FuK FB!

I had to quit FB because I was becoming too obsessed with trying to beat a couple of friends old high scores on Bejeweled Blitz.

You just have to be more selective with your FB friends. I like the "hide" option, but right now I prefer google+ or just not logging on. Has azi messaged you about a possible project?

I've kept my friends list in the 100s for a long time but it doesn't really matter. I still have a contact online (e-mail) so yeah. It takes 14 days until its permanently gone so long I don't login to it.

Are you sure it's permanently gone in 14 days?

Although it states it will be permanently deleted in 14 days, there's still a ghost file of your profile along with pictures for at least a year. Eventually it will be over-written, but FB does keep a copy of your file for awhile.

For example. A girl deleted her FB account, and then was found dead. The detectives went to FB to obtain her account information and read through her private messages, the temp. stored files. They discovered the last contact she made was with some guy of whom she met on the internet.

But I agree with you. It seems like a few status updaters just crave attention. People do spend too much time on it. Four of my coworkers are being investigated for posting work-related statuses stuff on FB. That's why I don't talk about work or use FB on work computer, only on my phone. I'll join you eventually.

^ wow! Coworkers are crazy to do that. Don't they sign a form not to post anything related to work on social networking?

After reading what Vibol wrote; probably not haha. But I think it'll be okay; there are other ways to keeping in contact and being "social" I think. Would you agree?

If they have the need to share things I'm always around to listen!

Because your young it might benefit more than harm to have a FB. I mean, you might meet people that is "good peeps" aka networks that could benefit you ahead. Keep those on your facebook. Or have two separate facebooks. I feel your pain with Facebook drama. But the double edge sword may prove worthy when your swordless.

I like your double edge sword saying but I think its also taking away too much from other sources we can benefit from: LinkedIn, E-mail, IM chats (aim), cellular phone use and countless other things. I see Facebook also as a Walmart; it has just about everything but nothing calls in my life for Facebook right now that is THAT serious or fun to have. Much of the fun is outside of the socia network websites as such.

Again, I do not see any benefit from it for me. And thats just me, alone.

exactly, the "hide" button is the best thing on facebook lol too many people update too much crap or some people are just annoying that I have to hide myself online haha.

I've hidden so many people; in the end the list was very long.
