I've always hated macs and always will, you can thank the older generation macs for that. As far as today is concerned PC probably has way more third party compatibility than macs, after all macs are owned by apple and apple is one stingy ass company. Really when it boils down to it its not a matter of whats better literally, its whats more preferred by the user. I'm an old pc dog and will always be.

I use both daily with Mac OSX being my primary OS. The only cons that I can think of for OSX is gaming, which isn't a problem for me because I can just boot into Windows.

Never had an viruses affect any of my PCs but many signs of Spyware, Malware, and all that crap. I had to reformat a few times and ended up losing so many data (pictures of VitaVann).

I currently have a Mac Book Pro 15". I'm a graphic designer and in all of my classes I use only mac's because in the design field everyone prefers to use macs. However at work I do computer programming and web designing and we use both but mainly PCs. The majority of the people at work love PCs though. I think both systems/platforms work well, it's just based on preference.

I'm a PC user all the way Macs still piss me off til this day... I've been fixing computers almost my whole life and a few days ago I had to fix a Macbook.. let me tell you it was really stupid how they programmed it to show a white boot screen on the beginning to indicate that the HDD had failed. There was no Trouble Shooting information or anything for me to view on the bios startup. The only thing I like about apple is just their iPods, but when it comes down to their desktops/laptops I just hate it as much as their Machintoshs back then.

Blue screen of death is mainly caused by memory problems, but you can view the trouble shooting problem when the blue screen of death hits you which shows you a description of the cause of it. If your RAMs are bad then that may be the cause of it.

Look at the hardware; Mac has always been ripping people off by pricing way more than they should. I have a 17.3" lightweight Toshiba satellite running 2.3Ghz, 500GB hard drive, 4gb ram; for only 550. You can probably buy the same hardware from apple for a thousand bucks more. So for more bang for your buck PC, but for all that software that you pay hundreds on; go for a mac; or go for open software you can download on a pc. I'm a graphic designer with a degree in Marketing and Ebusiness. I had to use a mac, but now i'm sticking to the pc. Its all a marketing scheme.

I definitely have to say PC...if it ain't broke why buy something new...however I do need to update my OS...I have an HP Pavillion 866C since 1999 and it's still running till this day. I'm rocking an obsolete Windows 98 OS...I don't get any viruses or I doubt any virus authors want to hack an antique OS like mine. As we speak, I am leaving a comment on here with my Windows 98 PC desktop...until this baby doesn't power up anymore, I will go out and get a new PC running Windows 7.

i like macs better only because they are more user friendly
navigation is more natural and in the flow of movement
I wanted to add: Lately they been disappointing me though. They're customer service used to be award winning and over the years they've gone thru the big bad corporation transformation. Overall, product is good but corporate getting really cocky.

Started off as a PC user. I can trouble shoot and do all the hardware upgrade etc by myself, but then I was forced to use Mac for two years and fell in love with it across the board. The simplicity, UIs, navigation, visual appeal, hardware, and overall quality triumps windows.
Windows
Pro: cheap/inexpensive, many programs/softwares on it that's not on a Mac. Ie: UDK, 3DSMax, league of legends <~Lols ;), just to name a few that really mattered to me, customizability is endless, and basically EVERY program felt smoother and better on a PC such as photoshop, zbrush, fruity loops, word, excel, illustrator, power point, the list goes on, and gaming on windows is endless and much user friendly especially with multiplayer.
Cons: bsod too often, I've have to reformate since the xp days until windows 7. Soon as I upgraded to 7 from vista I immediately got the bsod and had that on vista right out the box with a brand new HP pc. Lost so many hours of work to the point where I gave up on pc. Used a Mac and never looked back. If it weren't for UDK, 3DSMax, and a few other programs, I'd never go back to piece-of-crap (pc). Navigation and file search is horrible, the constant requirement of defragmentation, and it's open sourced registry based file system makes it a lot more susceptible to viruses and since windows makes up 95% of the market, people naturally make more viruses for it.
Macs
Pros: visually appealing, UI looks better (vector based), navigation, user friendly once you're used to it, don't need to defrag, files are kept easily neater, file preview is as simple as a pressing the spacebar, trackpad is amazing, quality of the hardware and software is second to none, less malware spyware viruses etc, compact, and just works.
Cons: so freakin expensive, proprietary everything, no card reader slots only USB based, lacks games and programs, iron curtain (bsod equivalent) just not as often rarely happens actually, every mac looks alike unless you customize it with a case, limitation to interface customizability, harder for the average user to trouble shoot.
Overall, if money was not an option, I'd go with a Mac all day long. I'll bootcamp it with a windows OS for softwares I need and everything else I do on a the Mac side. Torrenting and web browsing is much safer on Mac side.
Btw I own a PC and a Mac. Both are laptops: M17x 17" Alienware for gaming and some 3D work minor scripting and MacBookPro 15 i7 quad core 8gb ddr3 with 500gb solidstate hybrid @7200 rpm. So yeah I have experience in both but hands down to my Mac. Easier to lug around and easier to use.
Macs are more for multimedia, Windows PC is for general use. I prefer my Zenbook over a Mac. Series 9 Ultrabook is also pretty neat if price was no issue.

I think it's vice versa.
Pc multimedia (games, movies, music, fun)
Macs general use (work, web browsing, but of course both OSes are capable of doing both. just a matter of preference and experience.
More artists, whether it be graphic designers, photographers or even musicians or people who wanna do films use Macs because of it's Design Studios and all the graphic knick knacks. That's what it has it's reputation for. And to be honest, having a Mac or any of Apple products has become trendy, which is also the main reason why, I think, it appeals to ppl of this generation. You can use a similarly spec'd PC such as an ultrabook or zenbook and it'd be just as efficient as a Mac, graphics and all. I mostly use my notebooks for business work, so I need Microsoft programs to work without having to upgrade or jump through hoops just to get it to work on Macs. Aside from work, I use it for other things like browsing the web or watching movies & general computer use. Macbooks are basically like consoles where they have a specific-hardware layout that barely changes and makes it difficult to use softwares that aren't compatible.
Macs? You can do just about anything you want on both platforms but depending on your profession, you may need a specific OS as it's a standard. :smug:

I don't know how a Mac can be user friendly?? PC is so much easier to use compared to the Mac..Who would wanna cough up close to 2gs for a Mac?.. When you get a PC just as sexy, and way MORE powerful than a Mac with a cheaper price tag on it..PC can do EVERYTHING while Mac is only for general WORK use for graphic designers, people who uses Photoshop, Musician and etc.The PC can do ALL of that...Its just stupid arrogant crazy people who think differently, and follow a trend when they see artist or musician using it.. You are not rich like them so stop spending 2gs on a hardware thats not useful to you and pay off your credit card and rent..
No, I keep the old 12 in cause its my first apple laptop. I just buy new ones and keep the rest around in different rooms or as a media hub.
The 15" and the Ipad mini was provided by my work.

That's true but the experience of the OS is different. I want to punch someone when I use a pc. Aside from it being a standard in the design field. It's little things that makes it special and that's what you pay extra for.
I do agree that I'd you're just browsing or doing everyday tasks, a Mac is not necessary unless you like the experience that the OS offers.
So in short you're really paying for the experience.

we all have our opinions and we all are fanboys/fangirls of something. whos to say that their macs are not paying their bills. djs, artists, musicians, film-makers, etc all rely on macs because its proven not to crash during shows or work hours which may or may not cost them hundreds or thousands of dollars or work. your implication of others being stupid for owning a mac is as absurd as a pc lolz. if you're having pc problems i feel bad for you son, i got 99 problems but a mac aint one. ^_^

I never implied that macs never crash. I even mentioned it earlier in one of my lengthy response. Their equivalent of the bsod is know as the "iron curtain" or spinning wheel of death but the chance of that happening along with malwares spywares viruses are a lot less likely than a pc. People prefer macs because of its reliability and simplicity. As you can tell Microsoft has taken a page of the simple idea with its mundane and grade school like design of its windows8 UIs. I really want to give windows another try but I rather wait until all bugs are detected and fixed by the early adopters.

Most of ALL Apple fanboys are not using it for there business work. How are they making money off from it? When all they want to do is flaunt it.. Like i mention before they just want it because they are retarded and its a Apple product. You know how many spoil kids out there who whine, and cry just because their mommy, and daddy didn't get them a Iphone or Macbook? Ungrateful little punks that think money grows out of trees.. PC is cheaper to maintain even if i did get a virus..I can DL/install the software to get rid of it free of charge online..PC have NO limits you have the freedom to do anything you desire..Mac Os can get virus, and it does crash and have restriction..Even if it less likely to happen, but its still there.. I thought paying 2gs will completely eliminated the threat? The only problems you Apple Fanboys will have is being broke and asking your parents for money.

PC is preferable for hardcore activities: gaming, moding, programming, etc. PC is whatever you want it to be.
Apple is for the (rich) artists. My friend uses it for photography, my bf uses it for DJing, and a lot of people use it for graphic designing. It has a more user friendly interface and is easier to navigate quickly. Though you can argue that PC can do the same thing if modded correctly.
BOTH of them crash and get viruses.
Though the downfall of Apple products is you have to buy so much expensive extra shit for it. In most cases, PC laptops and desktops already come standard with extra shit. For example, my bf had to buy some kind of converter just to hook it up to an external monitor. My laptop comes standard with an hdmi input/output.
