I keep seeing these blogs about New World Orders, race populations taking over, rise and fall of economy, the doom of society and such. I just feel these threads made by (gaykhmerguy) is just his way of putting fear into people. I thought I logged onto Khmerlife, not CNBC.

I have little knowledge of what is happening right now in the world today. I don't watch the tele and I care less for politics. Doing so, I have less worrying about international or political affairs. I don't want to rupture an artery or vein in my brain. To stress about political events is passe. I got better things to do and it's living life.

We're living in tough times where we can't sit around watching TV, talking on the phone and enjoy life like we use to. The American way of life we're accustomed to seeing in movies and read about are over. This is our reality right now and we have to prepare before it's too late. The more informed we're the better prepared we will be in the future.

It's not only on KhmerLIFE but everywhere else on the internet. Go to any other forums and you'll see people talking about the same thing. Just walk outside or drive through your own city and see what the people are going through. We're slowly dying and rotting and it's only going to get worse.

People have to wake up and stop living in fantasy land. It's 4th quarter, down by 3, with 1 minute t go. We're on the brink of collapse and you're hear complaining about people talking about important issues. Well, like KHEN said, if you don't want to hear it, don't even read it at all.

I agree. We have different threads and topics to cater to members' different interests. When I feel like discussing politics, I'll join. Otherwise, there are other things to read and discuss. :)

Yes, and you're going to let those obstacles from letting you live on? There are those who find ways to best occupy themselves instead of watching CNN or BBC 24/7 on a daily basis. And those are people with a get up and go attitude who find alternatives to fend themselves. Even if it's shedding a couple of dollars to a homeless guy on the street until you're broke. I don't make assumptions about US collapsing, China's world dominance or radicals in the Middle East, or the end of world is going to happen in 2012. I believe in a thing called fate and letting things naturally take its course. I'm not going to live my coming years making judgement or assumptions. It's not living in a fantasy land or not knowing reality. It may seem from my recent post that I have no awareness, I do. I see it with my eyes but I'm not going to spread the news to others so they can reach insanity worrying. And letting it dominate them from living or moving forward.

I think you're over exaggerating just a bit. No one is spending 24 hours talking about politics and watching the news. I understand you feel helpless and there's nothing you can do to change things. It's mostly out of our control and nothing us commoners can do about it. So I can sympathize with you on that regard. But you can still do things in your life to lessen the damage.

Look. It's no secret. There IS going to be a big recession coming soon and there's going to be rough/hard times ahead. All the clues and signs are all there.

By being informed you can better prepare yourself for the inevitable. A lot of these people right now who choose to ignore the important issues and instead tune in to Charlie Sheens personal life, what celebrity is dating who and what reality TV show is on next are the one's who will be left behind and scrambling around as to what to do next. These are the people who will suffer the most.

What am I doing to prepare? I'm talking to family overseas, in Canada, Cambodia and friends in filipines, hong kong and Japan. I'm networking and finding out places where I could stay in case I need a place for refuge. I'm finding out where all the good jobs will be in the future and finding out what languages I need to learn.

I'm investing my dollars on gold/silver and buying up other currencies to spread my portfolio. I'm also planting a lot of fruits and vegetables in my garden just in case food prices skyrocket and cost 10 dollars for an apple.

These are little things you could do to prepare for the future and by staying informed and taking a little time out of your life to read up on current events, you can be in a lot better position when the time comes.

I almost study politics just going through pages of different sources of the same headlines daily. It helps me better understand the world and society itself. But as far as coming here to discuss it? Maybe if its interesting, usually the discussion turns into someone put out wrong information or a disagreement on policies. Those are the only two reasons I'll go into a thread.

tuksuhew

I do the same. I sift through information through various sources and then use my own analysis and observation to do my critiquing. Then I use what I learn to discuss it with others via forums or conversation in real life.

I think it funny to prepare for the end of the world by chatting about it online vs stocking up on canned goods, gold, silver, a pitbull, animal traps, insulating your house, etc.

End of the world is coming. Discuss. lol ;p

for me, not always. However I do enjoy discussing it with someone who knows what they're talkin about, once in awhile (and yes, OUTSIDE OF KL). What's wrong with talking about political issues? Some of it does affect you.

Angkor Beer and I have huge interest in hearing about politics. Partially because Angkor Beer has a degree in Political Science and I just tag along... for the taste if you know what I mean. :P

Yup, I do like to discuss politics anywhere as long as everyone has an openmind and understanding of everyone's point of view. There are no right or wrong, it's up for a debate but don't be so extreme that it makes you look like an idiot that has been living in a cave for centuries.

I'm not really into talking about politics. I have my own views but since this thread is about politics I will say some things. I'll talk about American politics since I live here and not really familiar with others.

Obviously the rich wants to stay rich and the poor wants to be helped. If you fit in one of those categories your gonna do whats gonna help you and your family. You can live in lala land and decide to do whats best for the nation but frankly, thats the president's, lobbyists, activist etc etc jobs. To me, I'm just a recent business college grad. If i really wanted to change the world I would go into politics and do somethin about it but because I'm not I'm just gonna be a good citizen and vote and have faith in whoever runs the country.

If your rich, u be pretty pissed off to see people on welfare with 10 kids working money under the table and driving luxury cars. I may be judging but thats the reality.

If your poor, your gonna need help to make ends meet. Your gonna need food on your plate to survive. Nobody wants to be poor. You just made a bunch of poor decisions or were born into it.

There's bipartisan no matter what happens. You can argue all you want but no one is gonna convert to the other side if it doesnt help them and their family. Talking about politics is a relationship killer unless both sees the same views.

All this is also way above me. Just try to live your life day by day the best you can. Be a good Samaritan is what im saying. Its just one of those things where if it happens, it happens. The economy maybe bad and unemployment high, I'm not gonna sit here and complain about it. I'm gonna try my best to get a damn job. Obama helps one sector, and then the other sector complains about it. Some people want health care reform some don't. Some are for globalization and some are against. Not everyone will be happy. Just do your best. If we go to war, I'll fight for our country. Besides terrorists, NOBODY wants new world order, depression, genocide etc etc.

I don't have a problem with those blogs and posts, but if u try to convert my thinking then i'll have a problem with it.

Hell no he won't! Everyone wanted a minority in office, so the public voted and nothing much was accomplished job/economy wise. So now it's time for the republicans and yes those white old men to take over again. There will never be another minority in office ever again in my life time. But I do want to see a woman runs the oval office one day.

I really doubt Republicans will take the oval office. They barely have someone worthy enough to run against him.

I believe the economy got screwed when the GOP was in office. It's a shame that Bush was re-elected for a second term but then again, John Kerry probably would've been just as destructive. Give Obama some time. It's not easy to clean up the huge mess the elephants left him with.

I like Hillary too. I think she'd make a great president.

I don't think the original poster meant this thread to be a political conversation. I think he was kind of annoyed by all the political threads and blogs on khmerlife. That's why he made this poll to see everybody's stance on the topic is.

As far is politics is concerned. I don't actively engage in voting during elections because I'm Asians and a minority. The issues I care for won't matter because I only make up a small pocket of the population.

Regarding presidential elections, I'm sorry to say that your votes don't matter. If anyone can prove to me that your votes do, then I'll give you a cookie. The fact is, only the votes from your states electors matter. Each state has only so many....ex: California has 55. It's not a direct voting contest, although many wish it were so. In essence, 55 voices mean more than all the millions of people voting in California. Ain't life grand! :\
