Is it your ethnic food, architecture, traditional clothing or music? What makes being Cambodian unique from all the other nationalities that you personally appreciate? And try to do it without talking smack about other Asians lol

I'm not Cambodian, however what I like most about this culture is it's traditional clothings. So much that I've purchased some of the material just to have it as souvenirs lol. I think what's different about you guys from Thai, Laos & Burman folks is that your traditional outfits are more elaborate and decadent, where when you look at it it's like some kinda "sa-nay"/aura that captivates you. The same kinda feeling also can be said about your ancient runes, too like Angkor.

Oh yeah, post pictures to show what the hell you're talking about :D

Somlar machew kreung (sour soup with prahok n grounded herbs lemongrass, could be beef or chicken) is my fav. Amok they (fish w/herbs n spices n more prahok wrapped in banana leaf, steamed), grilled steak n veggies w/prahok dip.

These are popular dishes that you can find in most Khmer restaurants but I haven't found one that can beat my moms cooking

I like how laid back Khmer people are. Okay, I think Khmers are wayyy too laid back, but I like how we're not pressured like Chinese kids are. I never had to deal with my parents forcing me to get an A or upset because I didn't go to the best school. That's why to me, Khmer people's faces don't have that much stress.

For the sake of being nice and positive, I'll go ahead and say something nice.

I like how Cambodians, have gone through a lot and despite all their struggles, they continue to live on, put the past behind them and look towards the future. Most are very tight knitted with their family and even though they fight sometimes, they still love each other and will do anything to put a smile on their face.

Most hang onto their cultural names. Sometimes they have english first names but more often than not, they have their cultural last names still. They're not like other immigrants who are ashamed of their culture, throw it out and completely bend over for the host country.

When Americans' go to Asia or Cambodia, they don't change their name, the way they dress or how they talk. They're proud and I think that's what I love about Khmers. They still keep it Khmer. Most of them anyway.

The tradition of which Khmer neighbors share foods, talks.. and even in the middle of the night, if something goes wrong, they'll open their door when you knock for help..then there come following other neighbors.

Except for smelly foods. I can't stand any foods that have a strong smell. Anything fishy (too much tuk trey) & pahok. I'm allergic to most khmer foods. Lol.
