Time

My, time has flown. It's almost Thanksgiving and Christmas. Do you ever wish time would stop now and then? Wouldn't it be nice to sleep in and time would slow down for u even if for just one day? For once wouldn't it be nice to spend a really really long day with someone you loved or get up late enough and still have time to chose your favorite outfit, fix yourself a nice breakfast, sit at the table or the coffee table, catch up on the news or your favorite cartoon, drive to work without traffic, or even if there were traffic, time would move so slow you wouldn't have to rush? Sure getting an alarm clock and waking your ass up would be a solution but what if the world went as slow as you wanted it to go? What if you controlled time?

Too bad life isn't that easy. Time after time, "time" will just smack you upside the head and remind you to wake your ass up and smell the damn coffee lol.

Time just seems to be moving way too fast these days and it'd be nice to slow down now and then. :)

Good morning KL.

Grateful

2 weeks ago - 11/12/2009 @ 10:00 PM

I think I'm realizing my life will always be like this...

ALOT OF BAD SHIT......then a good thing....ALOT OF BAD SHIT....then a good thing....and so on...

In no way am I complaining though.

I see it as, "At least there's a good thing once in awhile and for that I'm grateful."

These past couple weeks have been testing for me...but today two good things happend. I got approved for something...and I also got accepted into something that I've worked hard for. I set a goal to get accepted last semester and today I achieved that goal.

So BRING ON THE BAD SHIT...because knowing that in between the bad days I'll have GREAT days like today...and to me, it's all worth it.

Damn Commies

Last month - 10/20/2009 @ 8:29 PM

So this year the SEA Games (The Southeast Asian Games) are going to be held in Vientiane, Laos.

This is the problem.

Laos cut out alot of the sports that are usually part of the competition saying its lack of facilities. Other countries offered to help but they denied any support. They did however take Chinese, Japanese, and of course VIETNAMESE support.

Laos has secretly been training all their athletes in Vietnam.

The sports they have chosen to include in the games are the sports that the VIETNAMESE excel in and have won medals in before.

and here's what I just heard in a radio broadcast run by Laotian-Americans here in the states. I'm just translating. I'd post the video but it's all in Lao so yea.

The Laotian government sent a message to all Laotians abroad that they would like to recruit people to play in their teams.

A Lao guy in Seattle decided to go play for the Laotian soccer team. He spent 9 months training. The first time the team went to Vietnam, they went back to Laos and he was kicked out of the team. Him and the other Laotians from abroad (Germany, and France). He went to appeal it with the head hancho and the Laotian government granted him Laotian citizenship so he can play.

They went back to Vietnam to train again and when he came back they kicked him out of the team indefinitely and told him it was because he had American citizenship. What was the point of granting him dual citizenship in the first place?

The whole time, he says, he was treated like shit along with the German and French Laotians, and they were calling him dumb American.

So it's just curious how the Laotian government granted him citizenship this n that and tried to recruit Laotians abroad, but as soon as they went to VIETNAM things changed.

Alot of Laotians abroad say that the Laotian government is just a VIETNAMESE PUPPET and I swear...this kinda makes me really ashamed of LAOS.

I've always been proud of who I was and I mean, I still am...but that dream of going to Laos and feeling like "home sweet home" is starting to fade away.

Now I understand what my mom means when she would never go back.

Even years after the war and the Pathet Lao took over the country, we (Laotians-abroad) are still considered "traitors" and the "enemies." We'll never be "Laotian."

FUCK COMMIES and FUCK GOVERNMENT PUPPETS.

Just got home from my first Hockey game. Nashville Preds vs. Chicago Blackhawks.

Hockey fans are crazy. haha. I was acting like one of them....screamed in the camera and I got my few seconds of fame on the big screen! hahaha.

The Preds lost 1 to 3 but it was pretty fun. Might go to more hockey games in the future.

Just thought I'd blog. =]

Immigration

Last month - 10/9/2009 @ 9:49 PM

So I'm taking this class called, "Multicultural Persepectives on Education and Psychology" and we're talking about the different waves of immigration. We  recently had an exam on the first two waves of immigration and now we're discussing the third wave (which includes immigrants from Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and many other countries around the world).

This class makes me think about immigration and what people like my parents went through having immigrated to this lovely country we now call home; the United States of America (a bit of sarcasm action lol).

So in talking about immigration I had a discussion with my professor after class and I told him about this one movie that a Laotian guy and his friend started filming back in the 80s involving the American "BETRAYAL" of the Laotian people.

Now I know this is a KHMER social online community but I'm sure many people can still relate to the movie regardless of your ethnicity. It might also give you insight on the Lao story that you may not know. I watch movies about the Cambodian experience all the time and the struggles faced by Cambodians during the Khmer Rouge era and honestly, it touches a really weak spot in me. I sometimes feel so sad for all the damage that has been done to man kind period. In learning about other cultures and the trials and tribulations they have experienced, I find myself respecting and having a greater understanding that mankind has so much in common, when they share tragedy and hardship.

Anyhow, I just thought I'd share this movie with my fellow KL'ers.

It's called, "THE BETRAYAL (Neerakhoon)" and here's the link to the playlist on youtube. =]

Fuck You

Last month - 10/5/2009 @ 6:39 AM

I'm at work and I'm just wondering how people can be so damn stupid. I really wish people would just do their job and leave it at that. It seems that at this stupid school no one ever does anything right and I get screwed having to run back n forth between departments to correct issues that were not started by me.

So I had to resort to the professional "fuck you" type of letter today and I hope the message goes through to the idiots handling my student account and fucking shit up.

Don't you hate having to write cordial "fuck you" type of letters? LOL. You really want to say, "UP YOURS!" but it comes out more like, "If you would, please cut yourself now."

Tra la la

2 months ago - 9/28/2009 @ 12:49 PM

I'm sitting at my desk at work ready to go home and I have the pesky "Ding Dong Tra la la" song in my head! lmao. FML. FYT. but...

So lately I feel like I've become the "go-to" guy at work and everything is like, "Oh let's let Alonzo do it!"

For a hot minute I started to get really irritated. Whenever something needed to be done everyone would just come to my desk and give me a new thing to do. Even if it's dumb busy work or running dumb ass errands and shit.

But then I thought about it and I realized...

Hell, at least I'm getting an advantage over my coworkers. Sure I'm doing alot but in doing more than my coworkers I'm gaining more and more experience and that just makes me a better worker regardless of where I find employment.

So when I think about being the "Go-TO" guy, I'm over being annoyed. I actually don't mind it. =]

Hurry up 4 o'clock! wOOT WOOT! (But then I have class afterwards 0_o)

Random thoughts...

2 months ago - 9/26/2009 @ 7:34 PM

Saturday night and I felt like going out. But then my mama would've been home alone...so yea...CANCEL! haha. I don't mind....I love my mama.

I tried calling people...but they're all out haha...and the one who wanted to do something is trying to do too much...a nigga broke. haha.

I've watched all my movies...read all the books I own...perhaps I'll watch the third season of Avatar the Last Airbender...

Listening to Chrisette Michele....

Here's a question...have you ever been really really hurt by someone before? I have.

And has this ever happend to you?

I was thinking of that person just now...and I all of a sudden got lightheaded and the room felt like it was spinning...

Has someone ever had so much power over you that when you think about them...you almost feel faint and dizzy?

I'm not in an emo mood or anything hahahahaha...it was just a random thing...thought about them and that happend haha. So yea...

Just wondering...can anyone relate? Has this ever happend to any of you?

Just sitting here bored. ^_^

"Ethnocentrism at its highest degree leaves no margin for cultural relativism. Great cultures have fallen at the hands of narrow-minded masterminds. Parlez-vous francais?

2 months ago - 9/1/2009 @ 11:03 AM

Today's my busy day. Five of my classes back to back and I'm seriously going to hold my breath to death the next time I have to go over a syllabus. These are the days I wish professors would just e-mail us instead and say, "Here's the syllabus. Read it. Learn it. Understand it." No point in going to class -__-

On the bright side my classes thus far are pretty swell. Work is going just as well. Professors are pretty bitchin' and my French Composition professor is especially BOSS. She's a major hippie. My Spanish teacher seems alright but a little anal (as are all Spanish professors for some reason- diagnosis: lack of mota.)

No point in going home so I'm waitin' on my next class. How are you KL'ers today? What I wouldn't do for a fat ass bowl of...

My Words

My Words

by: zO

A nightingale perched upon a bough chirps her merry medley

One knows not that her merry chirp is actually a desperate cry of sorrow

Dew drops blanket a blossoming garden of roses, lilacs, and cheerful daisies

One ought to know that wet flowers do shiver in the morning frost

An author writes tall tales of passionate and romantic love affairs

Yet one would not assume his ability to know love comes only from deep agony

A choir sings and I too rejoice in song and praise

Worshipping my struggles

And eternally mindful of the battles that I must face

In order to be at peace

Only in the dark of night

In the darkness of my emotions

And from the depths of my cynical heart

am I able to breathe life and shine light

Into these words and verses

In which I paint

...Late night blog.

3 months ago - 8/10/2009 @ 1:45 AM

It is late and I am sitting here blogging. Lights are off and the only thing illuminating my sandy brown walls are the reflections of candlelight flames prancing upon a bed of wax.

It has been a long day. A long month. A long season and I long for the opportunity to take in a deep satisfying breath of fresh, new air as I find myself suffocating in the same lonely and dull routine that I follow in and out day by day.

What is out there in the world for my eyes to behold?

Is there not something or someone who will be the epitome of my satisfaction when I am old and weak in my rocking chair reflecting on suns and moons long passed and nearly forgotten?

I only know that as I take baby steps into the future I find myself rather wary of approaching an unknown, vast sea of new experiences, new places, and new faces.

Yet as one baby step proceeds the next I simply cannot wait.

I quiver with excitement and anticipation as I lay my head upon my pillow tonight, knowing that tomorrow will arrive too soon and I too eager to meet my destiny will rejoice at the dawn of a new day

A new start

And hopefully a new companion.

"It's never too late to love again!"

Goodnight KL'ers ^_^
