TEA
for the pass year i've been trying to keep the routine of drinking a cup or two of tea (usually green, oolong or black) everyday since their full of antioxidants and health benefits. i've only stuck yogi tea and some random brand i'd pick up at the japanese market whenever i'm in the area. does anyone have any tea brands or methods they'd like to recommend?

Hi my gf.
You drink it plain or do you add sugar & milk to it? I add milk & sugar to black tea, sort of tastes like Thai tea. My fav is Chammomile with honey. Also try Jasmine tea, but I'd drink that plain. For amusement purposes, try blooming teas. They're hard to find in the regular asian markets. I go to chinatown to get mine.

I buy the Kirkland brand from Costco, Japanese green tea made by a Japanese company called Ito En. It cost $12 something, it last me for awhile like half a year. It's the Matcha blend. I also like the taste of it, I don't put sugar just drink it straight and it contains antioxidants too.

Oolong Tea. You get these from any Asian stores and they come in a pretty tin box.

Chamomile tea calms your nerves, which is my prefered choice. Or try Oolong tea with authentic dried barley, I got that recipe while in japan. It brings out the smokeyness of the tea, the flavor is a bit more savory, a little bit stronger.

I enjoy mostly jasmine or green tea. I drink black tea mostly when I eat scones.
I don't like lemon, chamomile, peppermint, etc. And I don't like adding anything else into my tea. My boss likes to do cream, etc but that's not my thing. I also don't like other mixed teas. I like the pure flavors of the tea itself.
Green tea lattes though are something that I've just discovered and it's growing on me.
Teavana has great tea. They've got Jasmine pearls that smell wonderful! I think the new "it" tea right now is Roobois tea...haven't tried it yet though.

My parents and I are tea-freaks! We drink tea every day after dinner. It helps food to digest fast too. As for brand, my dad gets me random Asian brands for green, jasmine, white, oolong, and black tea from a Chinese market. I also get Traditional Medicinal Organic Green Tea & Ginger from GNC. White tea too! (I forgot the brand.) White tea has the most antioxidants out of all teas because the leaves are less processed. ^^^Those are somewhat bitter. But I don't add anything to them. When I'm sick, I do add a little honey, lemon, and a little ginger for a sore/ scratchy though. For something sweet, try Yamamotoyama brand in sushi bar green tea. Loves it! You can even use this to make green tea syrup for vanilla ice cream. Sooo good!
As for methods, I usually steep the tea-bag for 15ish minutes to extract more of the tea leaves goodness. XD Btw, you can use cooled tea bags as a toner for your skin. Also, you can use it like cucumbers by placing them on your eyes to rid puffiness. And make sure to not use any w/ too much caffiene! It can cause breakouts. >.<

Really? What about the smell turns you off? I think my favorite tea smell is Jasmine. :) Some places put popcorn or rice into their tea which imparts a really nice aroma to it so you could maybe try that. :)

When I do drink tea, it's usually green tea and always black. After I gave birth, my mom would make me this tea she got from the local khmer store and it was the best tea I've ever tasted. I don't know what it was called so maybe I should ask when I see her.

hmm, i really don't know why the smell of green tea is so off-putting. other teas are fine for me. it just smells... flaky. or powdery. haha i really can't describe it. sometimes i won't eat something due to the smell. like mushrooms. they smell old and shriveled, lol. that's an interesting idea to put popcorn or rice in the tea. would i put it in after it's been steeped?

Another good one is Chysanthemum tea. It's reeeeeally sweet. It's my sister's favorite. I prefer Jasmine and Chamomile. The taste is more soothing.

I drink sweet tea just about everyday. I love drinking plain hot jasmine tea with my brunch on the weekends. I drink sweeten chrysanthemum tea on hot days every now and then, it's very refreshing.
