just because I said I'm fully Cambodian.
A lot of people said I "got to be mixed" with something because I don't look fully Cambodian. And to be honest, I don't even know.
And I look no where close to Vietnamese and yet a few Cambodians be calling me "me youn".
I'm not youn, alright? Just because my last name is Thach doesn't make me youn.
Since I don't know exactly what I really am, I'll just stick to Cambodian because I speak it and I look like one.
Why don't I ask my parents? I was told that my grandfather was part Chinese, grandmother is part Thai, my mother is Vietnamese, etc. It get confusing and I don't want to claim to be any race that I'm not sure of. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with being fully Cambodian so I don't understand why some people thinks it's funny when I said I'm one.
I hate it when people make fun of my mother calling her youn. If she say she's not then she's not. So what if you think she look like one. Yeah she used to speak only Vietnamese but she learned to speak Khmer over the past years. If you never heard of Khmer Krom, look it up.
Beside, there is nothing wrong with being Vietnamese. I just hate it when other people think they know my family better than myself.
