young boy smiling at his mom's funeral

2 weeks ago - 11/7/2009 @ 12:29 AM

my friend from stockton passed away sometimes last week and i went to her funeral sometimes this week. she died in her sleep and she has like 5 kids, the youngest is her son (maybe 7 years old) who used to live with her along with her parents. the morning she died, the paramedics came and took her away and the son asked them, "why are you taking my mom away when she's still sleeping?"

That's what an elderly lady told me at the funeral. mmm my aunt speculated that she died from an overdose of her thyroid medication but the autopsy was inconclusive / or that she died from an unknown cause. but yeah at the funeral, in the end right before they put her in the cremator, her son was smiling and he had this carefree look on his face. it was at this point that i realized that he probably isn't aware of how serious the matter was - that he wasn't gonna see his mom in the flesh again.

r.i.p. my friend.

i no how u feel man. i have lost so many friends that i dont even cry anymore. its like i have no heart.. whats best is tell the kid. let him feel the pain. if he grows up not knowing his mom has passed away. then he will for get about his mother. with out knowing the pain would probly make him say "i didnt remember my mother". now let him remember her. at least thats what i would do. i have head the comments below.

poor baby... :( Maybe it's for the best that he doesn't know right now...but it's gonna break his heart when he learns the truth later.

my bro-in law was just telling me this when i went to visit on halloween, she's his family, poor kid, he's young and alot of people may think he dont know any better... and the same time he can just be smiling that she is now in a better place and he seeing her sleeping... at peace... so when he gets older and realize the difference between life and death.. in his mind he'll see his mom ..sleeping peacefully.. and knowing that it wasn't a struggle that she had past in her sleep...

I feel bad for the kids. Who knows, maybe he saw her spirit, and she was talking to him reassuring him everything was gonna be alright. You know, some people believe in stuff like that.
