Nurses/Nursing Students

3 weeks ago - 11/4/2009 @ 9:51 AM

I was planning on taking Anatomy and Microbiology next semester and I was VERY confident but now I'm not so sure. Why does everyone keep telling me that's a huge mistake? I need to get A's in both classes. I need to do very very very well. Not only get A's but also learn the materials. If there's anyone who has taken both classes at the same time or both classes at different times will you let me know how it is? I don't believe it will be that hard and if I think taking these two classes together is "that" hard then maybe my future will be too hard and I like challenges but I'm not going to wake up to an insecure unconfident life. Sigh!

EDIT: Thank you so much all of you for the helpful replies. Well...I can't really call it helpful. Seriously this just made me want to do it more. I've heard a lot about how these courses were challenging but I've never met a person who LIKE science who said it was challenging. It wasn't easy but it wasn't that hard is what they all say. So I'm leaning more towards taking both at the same time. We'll see how it goes.

If I were you, I'd challenge myself in every opportunity and grow in all facets of my life. Make the most of yourself in college, take the strongest and most rigorous courses, don't pay any mind to the cons of others. Challenge yourself and try to convey who you really are! I love it, I love it, I la-la-love it.

You must not be in college yet, and if you are you must be a freshman.

We're not talking about afraid of a challenge. She/he need good grades to gain an admission into Nursing school.I think she/he should be smart about when to take on the challenge.

those the super chalenging classes. I thought Zoology class was hard. to ace Human Anatomy, I think you have to take cardarver home, keep it in your frig. to study. I wouldn't recommend take those two classes concurrently.

i had 2 roomates going for nursing and they both took anatomy 1 and both had to retake it. all it is is just remember all the parts and what they do and stuff lots of vocabulary to remember. one like to study through reading while the other had stacks and stacks of notecards so she could remember; yes and lots of study like others have said. it's a challenge good luck.

Well I took physiology and mirco at the same time, it was a bit tough tho, but hey aslong as you can manage it and keep up with the course work, it shouldnt be that bad. If I can do it, you can too hah.

I'm sure you can do well, you seem very bright and gifted. But you shouldn't rush yourself, from my experiences when I rushed through finishing school, I didn't learn as much and I ended up failing the classes. But good luck with it.

i took those two classes seperately. i advise u to do the same. My A&P teacher was a nut! I guess you can try it out and drop one of the classes if it doesn't work out at the same time. good luck.

my opinion for you mali is to speak to an upper year classmate. how about your sister? if those courses really are challenging take them at separate times. it'll be easier on yourself and would maximize your chance of getting an effin A! also, take a bird course.

take them seperately! due to stupid proffs and my scheduling arrangements, i had to dorp a&p 2 once in the summer and in this fall semester. i'm taking it next semester tho. and i'm taking phy chem 1 and micro in the fall semester next year. trust me, those classes are no joke.

my discipline is different but i took three upper level classes required by my major. normally 1 or 2 is more than enough, but i was in a rush. and as much as i absolutely love the subject, i began to tire of as well as resent it. one thing i noticed college does to you is make you hate/love the subject you're studying. you'll still learn a lot, but you realize there's more to it than expected and then you start begging for a change, some variety. also, taking those 3 classes that required the same amount of work at the same time forced me to compromise on what i had to do and what i can do for each class. i have a friend who's very smart, ambitious, a great student and struggled just on anatomy alone. if you need to ace these courses, as well as learn the material, it's best to do them separately.

Study and familiarize/use memory techniques. I hummed a John Legend song during my anatomy final because it helped me remember the parts.
