So I'm taking this class called, "Multicultural Persepectives on Education and Psychology" and we're talking about the different waves of immigration. We recently had an exam on the first two waves of immigration and now we're discussing the third wave (which includes immigrants from Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and many other countries around the world).
This class makes me think about immigration and what people like my parents went through having immigrated to this lovely country we now call home; the United States of America (a bit of sarcasm action lol).
So in talking about immigration I had a discussion with my professor after class and I told him about this one movie that a Laotian guy and his friend started filming back in the 80s involving the American "BETRAYAL" of the Laotian people.
Now I know this is a KHMER social online community but I'm sure many people can still relate to the movie regardless of your ethnicity. It might also give you insight on the Lao story that you may not know. I watch movies about the Cambodian experience all the time and the struggles faced by Cambodians during the Khmer Rouge era and honestly, it touches a really weak spot in me. I sometimes feel so sad for all the damage that has been done to man kind period. In learning about other cultures and the trials and tribulations they have experienced, I find myself respecting and having a greater understanding that mankind has so much in common, when they share tragedy and hardship.
Anyhow, I just thought I'd share this movie with my fellow KL'ers.
It's called, "THE BETRAYAL (Neerakhoon)" and here's the link to the playlist on youtube. =]
