=C beta fish are so hard to take care..

2 years ago - 7/27/2008 @ 12:14 AM

I went to the a pet shop and I fell in love with this half moon beta fish it was black in the the middle out line with blue and light blue and its trim edges was white it was a pretty gorgeous fish.. I named it "loc kai" ... (note this was my 5th fish) I don't know what is with me but I keep killing all of my pet fish.. as much as I love beta fishes I end up some how killing it.. They end having those white spots.. one time I had this one fish who had those white spot it was really severe I was worried that it would die the next day the head of it some how looked like it exploded sadly I had to flush it.. God I feel so bad =c

sometimes when u change water too much its gets that white spot then theyll end up being sick and die. dont worry if the worry is a lil bit dirty its their natural habitat. longest i had a beta in captivity was 4 years. i use to breed them back then.

oh i have a funny story about betas.. my cousin owned one and i guess it jumped out of the little circular tank it was in, so it end up a little dried and so he threw it in the garbage. so later my aunt to throw something away and saw something green flapping. then she noticed it was the fish!! we all decided it was the smell of the garbage that brought it back to life.. funny because it spent like a total of 3 hours in actual air.

on my first fish I had a fish tank like this one with a filter but it died..
so on my next fish I just left it in a cup since I saw the pet shop kept them in a cup I thought maybe it had chance to live.. that didn't work it died..
I tried those round looking gold fish bowls that didn't work..
. I feed them this..

yea if you feed it too much the water gonna get la-awk(cambodian word)...as for feeding it at least 3-4 pellets morning or afternoon and 3-4 pellets at night. sometimes i dont feed it at all but thats just me lol.

water heater is not nesscessary you only need it when breeding but other people use them anyways. main thing is changing water too much=stressing the fish which leads it to get while spots...and yeah i've experienced seeing one of my better like that once, reason is because of the water changing haha. damn this makes me wanna get another beta a half-moon or crown tail ha!

mating is a different story. u have to leave the female in sight of the male until the male shows interest. do it about 1 week while in that process you also have to feed it live food. beta breeding is kinda hard. sometimes it can be deadly and sometimes it can be successful depends if the female is interested in the males bubble that he blows. if the beta is too old then it cant breed.

males have longer tails. females are smaller and have short tail (they are uglier) and as for the plakat thai betas they also come in short tail so be careful who you pair it with.

All my fish die. No matter what. I kept a sucker fish the longest (they're now my favorite). As easy as the beta fish look just sitting in a bowl at the store, they're not - as you know! I wonder why dogs are easier.. maybe because they remind you to feed them? lol

I'm a horrible fish owner too :( I bought a beta fish, his name was bubbles.. he was depressed. I tried everything, but he kept on pretending like he was dead. I thought, maybe he was lonely, so I got him a girlfriend.. her name was penelope. He tried to rape her. She died :( Then bubbles got even more depressed.. eventually, he died too :( I vowed never to get another fish ever again :(

ahhh i suck at keeping a fish alive. i dont kno how many i had but i remember one of em got bit by a bug or something..had an infection on the mouth area and had died a few days later and one of em hopped out of the bowl (which was on top of the chiminey) on to the floor(after only leaving it for a few hours). suprisingly it didnt cook up in the fire. haha but now i want more fishies. i want that nemo looking one.

I havent own any fighting fish for about a year, I had about 5 or 6 so far. I agree they're hard to keep, and a lot of mine died from stress a lot, or because of the water, but my last one was with me for about a year and a half.
